Courses

The focus of the seminar is the foreign policy of the USSR (Russia) starting after World War II and ending with Putin’s first mandates. It will examine the process of foreign policy decision-making, domestic political, economic, and ideological factors influencing the development of the foreign policy agenda. The history of foreign policy will be analysed both chronologically and by looking at cross-cutting themes (e.g. the history of US-Russian bilateral relations). As a practical illustration of the Kremlin's foreign policy course, a case study of co-operation and competition in the most prominent area of interaction between different countries - space - will be considered.
