The purpose of this course is to expose students to a broad range of marketing basics with an emphasis on current marketing techniques and issues. High importance is placed on good verbal and written communication. The atmosphere for this class is interactive so that all students can feel comfortable participating in classroom discussions. }
This course has been designed to:

  • Develop your understanding of the basic concepts and terminology of marketing;
  • Expose you to the key functions of marketing;
  • Present current examples of market positioning and marketing management in action covering the planning and execution of marketing strategies.
 Upon completion of this course, you should:
 COGNITIVE SKILLS
  • Understand the marketing concept—the importance of the customer as a driver of all marketing activities.
  • Know the marketing communications tools, their characteristics, relative strengths and weaknesses, and how they can be integrated to craft a successful voice in the marketplace.
  • Understand the marketing controllable factors (Porter’s 4-P’s). • Appreciate the relevance of marketing in the household, the organization, and the world.
  • Understand the nuances of marketing to the global community.

  • Understand the methods of researching the market to determine customer wants and needs so that they may be better served.
