Matteo Bassoli
Matteo Bassoli is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Padua, he is
President of Refugees Welcome Italia. After obtaining a M.sc. in
Economics and Sociology on civic engagement and stakeholder activation
by local governments, he carried out the PhD in Political Science at
Pavia University. From 2007 to 2014 he was researcher assistant at
Bocconi University, he was visiting scholar at the School of Public
Policy (University College of London), Germe/Metices (Université Libre
di Bruxelles) and Cevipof – SciencesPo. He has written extensively on
civic and political engagement: two authored book in Italian, one edited
volume on grass-root antidiscrimantion policies in English and one on
local governance in Italy. He has also published on different aspects of
urban governance, democratic setting and local policy making in the
following journals: Acta Politica, Governance, International Journal of Urban and
Regional Research, Social Movement Studies, Partecipazione e Conflitto,
Social Policy and Administration, International Journal of Comparative
Sociology and Journal of Social Policy. He has been working on Roma
issues, antidiscrimination and social exclusion in three different FRC
projects, but also in FP6, FP7 and EACEA programme, as well in South
East Europe and Central Europe programme.
