This study tour aims to introduce students to the historical and documentary heritage preserved at the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence. The archives' staff will illustrate the types of sources held, the archival collections preserved, and the research opportunities — primarily for thesis purposes — available at the EU archives.
Students will have access to a selection of original sources on topics chosen by the archive staff and the Scientific coordinator. These sources will be read, analysed and discussed as a group, in order to learn the basic methodologies of archival research. The activities of analysis, work and discussion of the sources will take place over two days. Participating students will be entitled to reimbursement of accommodation expenses (one night in a hotel), meals and travel, up to a maximum of €325 per participating student.
